Special hotel recommendation

If you want to learn more about Lombok’s culture, visit the Sasak village of Sade, located north of Kuta, which shows the life and traditions of the indigenous people.

The Taman Narmada is an impressive water palace, a magnificent display of Indonesian architecture, featuring lush pleasure gardens and temple (and a fountain of eternal youth) that  were built 200 years ago by the king of Mataram as a replica of Mount Rinjani when he could no longer visit the volcano’s sacred lake.

The Lingsar temple complex is a magnificent blend of Hindu and Muslim places of worship. You’ll see stalls selling hard-boiled eggs outside the Pura Lingsar temple, and those are not for humans to eat, but for convincing the holy eels that live in the temple’s pond to come to the surface.

A local restaurant worth a visit would be Bale Kokok Pletok, which serves dinners al fresco under a lofty thatched ceiling, lotus ponds, tropical surroundings and magnificent ocean views.

Golf enthusiast are in luck because the Lombok Kosaido Golf Club is just a 15-minute boat ride away.
